Swedish scheme connects WEEE fees with REACH criteria.

Starting on the 1st January 2024, the Swedish WEEE collective scheme El-Kretsen will apply higher fees to those producers that put such electrical and electronic equipment onto the market that contains more than 0,1 per cent by weight of any substance in scope of Article 57 of the REACH Regulation (EC) no 1907/2006. Exemptions may apply for those producers who have already been subject to the full chemical tax. Producers who do not reach the lower limit will pay 10 % less than the regular fee level.

Based on this approach the collective scheme does not apply a general pro-active price increase. El-Kretsen will provide a possibility within their online portal to provide documentation evidence during the declaration. Producers that don't apply such evidence, will pay their contribution fees according to the price list without reduction.
