EU Parliament agrees to amendments.
On the 9th November 2023, the EU parliament has agreed to the amendments stipulated in the proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) (COM(2023)0063.
According to the proposal, any marking and financing obligations that producers may face ex-post to the provision of equipment to the market, the application of marking and financing to open-scope equipment should apply only from the 15th August 2018.
Further amendments of Directive 2012/ 19/ EU are currently under consideration. A legislation proposal is expected in December 2026.
